HIGH QUALITY INFLATABLE MATTRESSES

The thinner they are in thickness, the sooner they cause back pain, and the thicker they are… the more difficult they become to carry. Other than that, you can get nauseous when blowing up such an air-filled mat…. Perhaps not a useful thing ? …. Not quite , because these are the only conceivable disadvantages. The benefit is a good night’s sleep. The latter is invaluable.

It is always difficult to carry such an awkwardly bulky piece of mattress on your backpack, but it is indispensable. Well there are many models and variations, but the most important thing about an inflatable mattress is its durability against punctures. A series of leaky inflatable mattresses cannot be repaired in the middle of nowhere without repair tools, and as such a completely useless collection of Ballast ! Beyond that, there are several points that are important.

Firstly, the size, which should not be too small or too wide, and especially the latter, as it will sleep very uncomfortably. Furthermore, the foldability to the smallest possible package will play a major role in user-friendliness. Furthermore, durability plays an important role with inflatable mattresses, and the comfort level, which is essentially the reason to buy a certain mattress. Most mattresses are made of polyester with a TPU coating or PVC. The latter is generally a bit tougher, however often less in comfort and heavier in weight.

Again, we performed our tests with the criteria described above. Most inflatable mattresses had to die on the durability of the material, the abrasion resistance and the size when folded due to their poor performance. Of the 28 different brands tested, these are the best-scoring inflatable mattresses available on the market today.

 

THE FUNCTIONALITY OF AN INFLATABLE MATTRESS

First, an inflated mattress can be used in a sleeping bag. In this you can simply slide the precisely fitting mattress into the sleeping bag ! An extremely comfy solution as such ! The inflatable object can further more serve as a flotation device if you have fallen out of a canoe or as a mattress for a hammock or tent.  However, that’s not all… it can also be very useful while diving, to have the mattress serve as a floating platform for diving gear that cannot be carried from a weight point of view.
