HIGH QUALITY OUTDOOR PANTS

“Going to buy a good pair of outdoor pants” is very easy to say and quickly pronounced… however, in reality the implementation is apparently the opposite ! Most outdoor enthusiasts then immediately go to the well-known outdoor shops, where well-known trouser brands are displayed, for a price that is 4 times too high, with a commercial quality that cannot be called anything special, despite the fact that these outdoor brands present their outdoor pants, as if it were a super product worth of its price !

A small fist-rule for survival pants is; The more that is spent on marketing and advertising on a so-called high-tech fabric product or smart material brand, … the less it represents in quality ! This is the reason that for example;  One will never see a commercial on TV or in the media of the car brand Rolls-Royce, but on the other hand one will from a brand like Volkswagen. All pants are sold in pairs of 2 pieces.

 

MARKETING-MANIA OF OUTDOOR BRANDS AND SURVIVAL CLOTHES

Bad or mediocre products need a lot of marketing … but good products very little to nothing after a while ! This does not only apply to outdoor pants, but to everything in our society ! All poor quality products require the most advertising and fuss. Mac Donalds and Coca Cola are good examples of this ! So the more branding the outdoor trousers product has and the more fuss on the label, … the worse the survival pant brand in reality performs with its products in front of you.

 

OUR FINDINGS BASED ON THE TESTS ON SURVIVAL / OUTDOOR TROUSERS

Besides the fact that the well-known brands often but not always perform the worst, there are of course criteria on which we have substantiated these findings. Below is a summary of these criteria of which the best scoring result is to be seen on the photo’s ;

• Abrasion resistance of fabric
• Abrasion resistance of the stitching seams
• Accuracy of stitching
• Color choices
• Fit
• Good ventilation
• Functionality of compartments
• Breathability of fabric
• Overall design
• Water repellency
• Strength of fabric

 

FUNCTIONALITY OF THE SURVIVAL PANTS OR OUTDOOR PANTS

Of the many well-known and unknown brands that we have tested and failed to meet the above criteria, the following are our findings. First of all, outdoor pants must be comfortable ! Secondly, it has to be much tougher and stronger than regular pants. And thirdly, it must have many possibilities to store things in pockets, and compartments, for housing all kinds of attributes such as an outdoor knife, or a mini axe, or a Compass. Another functionality in survival pants would be for example, a loop for attaching a folding saw or climbing equipment.  In addition, 2 large pockets on the thigh part of the trousers, for example to put in a cap or a number of fire sticks or a detachable part of an outdoor jacket. If one falls from the canoe with outdoor pants into the water, … the pants must dry quickly while wearing, so that it becomes unnecessary to have them dried in a tent.

 

CONCLUSION

In short; standard pants or survival pants… a world of difference !
